New Sri Lankan restaurant opens in Bedford County

Bedford Co., PA (WJAC) — A unique restaurant is opening in Bedford County.

Melanie's Cuisine, a Sri Lankan restaurant, held a ribbon-cutting in downtown Bedford Thursday morning.

All of their dishes are made with Sri Lankan spices that the owners grow themselves.

The owners say there are many types of restaurants with varying cuisines, and they are just adding something to the growing diversity of the borough.

"We all in the restaurant business we are offering our best services to the community and with variety. So, I am just adding another variation, another variety. I hope the businesses and the local community in Bedford will enjoy this kind of food as well"

The restaurant is located on the corner of Juliana and Pitt Streets in downtown Bedford.
