Coroner IDs boy, 10, who fell into Stonycreek River while attempting to retrieve toy

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Cambria County coroner Jeff Lees has identified the 10-year-old boy who later died after being rescued from the Stonycreek Rive in Johnstown Saturday evening.
Lees says Dakota Locher was pronounced dead at the Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center Emergency Room just before midnight.
Authorities say Locher allegedly fell into the river after he reportedly dropped a toy into the water and was attempting to retrieve it.
Officials say his cause of death has been listed as an accidental drowning.
The boy's family reportedly told investigators that he did not know how to swim.
Authorities say first responders reportedly found the boy in about 15 feet of water at the time of the rescue.

A 10-year-old boy has died after being pulled from the Stoneycreek River in Johnstown Saturday, according to the Cambria County Coroner.
Coroner Jeff Lees tells 6 News the boy died in the emergency room at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
Details surrounding the incident and rescue efforts remain limited.
Lees says an autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
He says the boy's name, cause and manner of death will be released after the autopsy is complete.

Water rescue crews were seen along the Stonycreek River on Saturday evening.
Local fire departments, police officers and other first responders were on scene for a few hours.
The river runs alongside the Greater Johnstown High School.
