Morgainz Elite Cycle's 'Pedals and Puppies' event aids local humane society
Morgainz Elite Cycle in Johnstown held a “Pedals and Puppies” class to raise money for the Cambria County Humane Society.
Participants had the option to take part in two spin classes with a special intermission. Between both classes, athletes could play with a variety of adoptable puppies.
Morgainz Elite Cycle owner Phoenix Stratemeier says each participant paid their usual fee to take the class. This time, he says all proceeds were donated to the Cambria County Humane Society. He says the class raised around five hundred dollars for the shelter.
“We’re always looking for fun and innovative ways to host something for our members, and at Morgainz Elite Cycle, we’re always looking for opportunities to give back to the community,” says Stratemeier.
He says the reaction to the event was better than he had initially expected. Between the spin classes—which featured dog-themed songs—and free time to meet the puppies, he says he considers the event a major success.
“People had a really good time at this event. Everyone was able to play and cuddle with the puppies, and we all had a great time” says Stratemeier.
Stratemeier says he hopes the event will encourage more people to adopt or donate to the Cambria County Humane Society.
He says he hopes to hold similar events at the gym in the future.
