The family of Grant Jeanjaquet and Vindy Kohan, a local brother and sister who were tragically killed over the summer in a house fire in Westmont Borough, says that a scholarship fund has now been set up in their memory.

Investigators say the fire tragically claimed the life of 22-year-old Grant Jeanjaquet, an aspiring Navy nurse, in late July.

A few days later, authorities say Kohan succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire.

The family says that they are thankful and grateful for the community's continued support since the tragedy.

In a statement to 6 News, the family says that they want to "express their deepest gratitude" to the following:

We would also like to thank our family, friends, the residents, community, and businesses of the Cambria County along with the surrounding area for the support and generosity that they have shown to our family during this tragic time. It is a blessing to see how our community has came together as a whole to help one another. We like to think that this is a testament of the characteristics of our son Grant and daughter Vindy who were compassionate, selfless, and resilient. We hope that they have touched many lives in the process of our recovery. And we only ask that you always hold a special place in your heart for both of them.

The family adds that while they are appreciative of all of the donations they received, they are no longer accepting any donations and have instead used the remainder of the monetary donations to establish a memorial scholarship fund in memory of Jeanjaquet and Kohan.

The family says that anyone who wishes to donate to the scholarship fund should contact Ameriserv Bank, or they can donate to the Bishop McCort athletic/cheer program.
