Family of brother & sister killed in Westmont house fire sets up scholarship in their memory
Cambria Co., PA (WJAC) — The family of Grant Jeanjaquet and Vindy Kohan, a local brother and sister who were tragically killed over the summer in a house fire in Westmont Borough, says that a scholarship fund has now been set up in their memory.
Investigators say the fire tragically claimed the life of 22-year-old Grant Jeanjaquet, an aspiring Navy nurse, in late July.
A few days later, authorities say Kohan succumbed to injuries sustained in the fire.
The family says that they are thankful and grateful for the community's continued support since the tragedy.
In a statement to 6 News, the family says that they want to "express their deepest gratitude" to the following:
- The Hindman family, and staff at the Hindman funeral home.
- Bishop McCort Catholic High School , Athletic and Cheer Program and the entire staff.
- Saint Vincent College and Saint Francis University students and staff.
- To our priest, Father Mark S. Begly, and Divine Mercy and Our Mother of Sorrows Church.
- Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center and the ER Family. To all the fire, police and EMS departments that were on scene especially West Hills police and fire rescue.
The family adds that while they are appreciative of all of the donations they received, they are no longer accepting any donations and have instead used the remainder of the monetary donations to establish a memorial scholarship fund in memory of Jeanjaquet and Kohan.
The family says that anyone who wishes to donate to the scholarship fund should contact Ameriserv Bank, or they can donate to the Bishop McCort athletic/cheer program.
