Windber couple wins $10,000 during local scavenger hunt hosted by "Moneyman"

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — The mysterious local man known as “Moneyman” held his latest scavenger hunt this weekend with a prize larger than even before. Windber natives, Austin and Ashlee Seese came in first place, winning $10,000.

Over 150 cars with teams of two, participated in Moneyman’s scavenger hunt on Saturday. After spending nearly 12 hours looking for clues across the Johnstown area, the husband and wife team found Moneyman at the Inclined Plane.

“I mean it was a huge build up the whole day. We didn’t know if we were going to make it to the finals and when we finally got here it was surreal, unbelievable. We are still in shock. It was a lot of fun and such a long day to build up to that moment,” said Austin Seese.

Teams were given a list of destinations where they had to take pictures and post them to social media for a certain amount of points. After earning the most points throughout the day, the Seeses and two other teams made it to the final.

“From there they gave us GPS coordinates that we had to plug in on our phone and then that led us here to the inclined plane where the whole moneyman team was and we had to give him the code to the brief case and there was $10,000,” said Ashlee Seese.

The Seeses say other than winning the grand prize, they took away a new appreciation for the area.

“We learned so much about the city and the surrounding areas that you normally wouldn’t take appreciation. Whether reading the landmarks or going to see this view or whatever it may be there is just so much land and historic value where we live in our backyard,” said Ashlee Seese.

I spoke with Moneyman who says this weekend scavenger hunt was a huge success. I asked him if there will be any other events like this in the future.

“So I’m definitely planning some real big ones and then some small ones like I did in the past like with air pods which are still pretty cool,” said Moneyman.
