'People want comfort:' Owners of popular Bedford County pub celebrate 10th anniversary

The proprietors of the Golden Eagle Inn in Bedford County are celebrating 10 years of operating the establishment’s pub, which is located in the basement.

The building also houses a restaurant and a bed and breakfast.

They kicked off the week-long celebration on Sunday with a “throwback menu”, featuring items that the pub served back when it first opened.

The Bedford Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an event on Tuesday, at 11 a.m., to commemorate the operation.

They will round out the week with authentic Irish menu items for Saint Patrick’s Day.

The owners say that to them, the historic Golden Eagle Inn is so much more than a restaurant and pub, it’s a place that provides comfort to its visitors.

“People want comfort; you want to go in and feel, ‘okay, you can get food for and good drink”, but also feel comfortable; have food conversation. And the building does that, and totally reinforces that. It’s an old building with a wonderful comfortable feel.”

The building’s history dates back to the late 1700’s, when it was the home of Dr. John Anderson.
